It all started with a Christmas gift idea for my mom. I walked into the hobby store, looking for something I could make with my two hands. I saw the candle kits and thought this would be something she would enjoy. Who doesn't enjoy candles? I made her a lavender-scented candle and put my little touches to it by adding layered colors and dried lavender buds. Back then, I was unaware of the precise temperatures and fragrance percentages needed to make a candle successful. Since then, I have spent countless hours and months upon months of testing and research. Little did I know just how much I would enjoy the science and art of blending fragrance oils and pouring candles.

I’m Amanda: wife, mom of 3, and a 5th grade teacher in NW Ohio. As an avid reader but also mom of toddlers, I knew I needed to keep my books safe (because little hands and missing bookmarks are a STRUGGLE), so I researched ways to keep my sanity and came across book sleeves.

Immediately, I started buying book sleeves, but had the desire to create my own. I invested in a sewing machine and set my mind (and my husband’s) to it! We’ve created a solid way to keep your books safe AND look cute!

Mommy Jane came to be one afternoon when I took something away from my daughter, Poppy Jane (she hears her full name often). She, clearly upset, yells at me and says “Mommy Jannnnnnne!” True, I am a mommy and my middle name is Jane, but absolutely hilarious that Poppy called me that like I was in trouble!
